Ronnie Robertson

We are very saddened to share the news with you that our dear friend and committee colleague Ronnie Robertson passed away on the 10th July. Ronnie was a member of the SAME committee for almost twenty years and served as vice–chair for a number of years. You will all remember Ronnie as the smiling face that would greet you when you arrived at the conference, who would always be on hand to show you where to go for all of the different sessions and of course collected the badges at the end of the day. Ronnie had a long and distinguished teaching career starting his teaching at Kirkintilloch High School before moving to Bishopbriggs Academy where he was Principal Teacher of Music. After retiring from this post Ronnie went on to teach music in two primary schools in East Dunbartonshire Council where he loved working with the younger pupils and enjoyed putting on numerous school productions. Outside of school life Ronnie enjoyed his time with the New Day Vocal Ensemble which is made up of many of Ronnie’s ex pupils who wanted to continue their musical journey with Mr Robertson after they finished school. The committee have very fond memories Ronnie and are planning some long-term memorials so that Ronnie will live on at the SAME conference for many years to come.
