Scottish Association for Music Education: COVID-19.
Many of SAME’s members are school colleagues and all will be working from home. SAME sends its support and greetings to all with a message of safety for everyone’s health.
SAME was planning its 2020 Conference for 3rd and 4th September. However, in light of the current situation in the UK etc, the uncertainty of the timing of schools returning to work and the impact of that on arrangements, sorry to say the Conference has been cancelled.
Meanwhile, SAME has issued statements and has produced an extensive list of online support, links to activities, events, and teaching material. You can access this from the menu above under ‘COVID-19’.

What our members have to say...
Totally inspired after attending Kate Picken’s ‘Tune In’ session. Have since used the excellent resource with my class and they really enjoyed learning to play the tuned percussion. These sessions are invaluable to teachers and provide us with the best CPD of the year.

I am a Primary Music Teacher at Dollar Academy and attended the SAME Conference looking for ideas and resources to support my teaching. The choice offered by the organisers was great! Sessions were vibrant, active and practical which I found very helpful. Instructors provided plenty resources and good advice. I would recommend this conference to everybody involved in primary sector teaching.

Not only did the conference open me up to new and creative approaches, it was a day to explore professional connections across other schools and agencies and to re-energise by meeting friends also teaching in the profession.
James O’Neil
Faculty Leader of Music, Arran High School
I really enjoyed the SAME conference as it offers such a fantastic range of workshops and CPD sessions – there was a fantastic feel-good atmosphere! Between primary, secondary, technology and understanding standards, there really is something for everyone. It’s a great opportunity to network and to get together with old friends and colleagues – I call it Glastonbury for music teachers!
